Boy, it smells good in here.
Birch, sassafras, and balsam fir are filling up the whole morning, curling into the corners of the room in the living essence of the forest—softening the edges of the day. I just finished pouring a fresh batch of soy candles, and the air is practically humming with their warmth and calm. I don’t mind it one bit.
There’s something sacred about early mornings in the shop—before emails, before errands, before the world wakes up. The act of pouring candles in that hush feels almost meditative. It’s just me, the warm wax, and the quiet. And as the scent of essential oils begins to bloom in the stillness, in a way these candles serve their purpose twice...first when I pour them, and then when you enjoy them in your own home. This morning's batch are the new Sauna candles.
Candles have been extra popular lately, even though this time of year usually brings a little lull. But maybe we’re all still reaching for something ancient. The warmth of fire. The comfort of light. That deep, instinctual need to gather around a flicker of flame when the world feels a little too much.
My Sauna essential oil blend was born of that same longing. Inspired by the ritual of my northern Michigan homeland tradition—the sauna is a place not just for cleansing, not just of warmth, but also for reflection. For quiet. For returning to yourself. It’s a scent I blended to capture that experience: the soft steam rising, the scent of birch twigs and forest air, and that moment when you step out into the chill; calmed, but invigorated, spirit steadied.
Hand-poured in Michigan with pure soy wax and essential oils—birch, balsam fir, and sassafras—Sauna carries the forest to your doorstep. A soft, flickering invitation to exhale.
Thanks for stopping by the workshop this morning.
