The Dead Sea is actually a terminal salt lake located between Jordan & Israel, nearly 1,300 feet below the Mediterranean Sea level. Despite having no outlet, constant evaporation of the waters due to the region's dry, hot climate maintains the lake level at a very steady rate. It is this evaporation which has created a mineral concentration of 24.6 percent--about 7 times that of average sea water. This level of concentration of salts and minerals is too high for any fish or sea life to exist, hence the name, "The Dead Sea".
It is also this unique combination of minerals which makes the mud and brine from the Dead Sea a sort of healing mecca, and for centuries, people from all over the world have sought its therapeutic benefits. Long used for relieving ailments such as rheumatism and muscular pain, and well known to help serious skin afflictions such as psoriasis and eczema, however, pure Dead Sea Mud is also a wonderful detoxifying masque for any skin type, deeply cleansing and refining the pores while leaving the skin silky, smooth, and clear.
We've added nothing to this product, because we find dilution of the Mud reduces its therapeutic effects. Instead, we simply allow the minerals to work naturally and effectively in their unadulterated form, just as they have for centuries. May be used on face or body.
